Mini Workshop :: Espadrilles 2020

Mini Workshop :: Espadrilles 2020

Saturday, March 21st, 1 pm – 5 pm  -or- Sunday, March 22nd, 10 am – 2 pm

Join Melissa from A HAPPY STITCH and learn how to make comfy and crazy cute espadrille shoes using both machine and hand-sewing.  This class will teach you how to work with interfacing, how to shape fabric into shoes, and how to create an even blanket stitch. And, at the end of the day, you’ll have a pair of SHOES!

You will get to choose a kit, from Melissa’s online store, which includes all other necessary tools to make your own espadrilles.  After registering, you may purchase the shoe kit of your choosing, in your size; please do so no later than 2 weeks before the workshop. You will receive a 20% discount coupon code to purchase the kit from Melissa’s shop after you have completed registration.

The Workshop

The cost of this Workshop is $100, which includes 4 hours of sewing instruction, use of Shop equipment, and a few exclusive surprises and treats.

The Sewlebrity

Melissa Quaal is a business owner, sewing instructor, and creator of The Espadrilles Kit, and her work has been featured in BUST and Mollie Makes magazines. In addition to making her own shoes, she also makes her own clothes. For the last five years, she has avoided buying any new clothes in an effort to counter the waste and conformity of fast fashion with the radically simple idea of a mindful wardrobe. The project has brought attention to the ecological damage and human cost of the fashion industry since 2015. She sells her complete DIY kits for making espadrilles on Etsy and teaches sewing around the country. Visit her website at A HAPPY STITCH.
